Thank you Yanthan for the inspiring verses. Please respond to the recent racial attacks going on in Australia and how a learning environment can be created that reposes the trust of the Indian students there. Please see the comments on the issue.
ReplyDeleteReading-Based Approach
ReplyDeleteDelhi University has revised its syllabus for the BA Honours in Political Science to focus on a reading-based approach. The syllabus has been revised and for the first time reading packages have been created for students. Students would now be required to study according to ‘topics and not textbooks’. So the Dept. of Political Science has prepared a list of books (with prescribed chapters) that should be read by students to complete a particular topic. So far the students blindly followed certain textbooks and market-based guides to understand the subject. The onus was then, on teachers to accordingly fill the gap between what has been learnt and what hasn’t. This creates an uneven approach towards a subject in different colleges. But now, with a single reading list and prescribed topics, students from every college would have a level playing field. Books suggested in the list were popular books available in the library, market or online.
This measure will promote a reading habit and process of substantive study and learning that can lead to enrichment of our students.
Dear All Friends,
ReplyDeleteGood initiative by Ms Dolly methew and all supportive friends
Keep it up
